Versatile Fish Pie Mix!!

Fish Pie Mix at Fish Burwell LTD is not only just for the standard fish pie, it can be used for many other dishes. It is also inexpensive and very tasty, give these recipes a try with of Fish Pie Mix.

Fish Pie Pasties

Ingredients

  • 500g Fish Pie Mix
  • 1 Pack Potts Sauce for Fish Pie
  • 2 packs ready rolled puff pastry
  • Egg for brushing

Method

  • In an oven proof dish put the fish pie mix and cover with the fish pie sauce, then cook for 15 – 20 minutes.
  • Once the fish is cooked take out of the oven and leave to cool for a while
  • In the meantime, cut the pastry into four circles about size of a side plate.
  • Into the middle spoon the fish and brush the edge of the circle with the egg
  • Then, fold over the pastry and crimp the edges together and glaze the pastry with the beaten egg, transfer the finished pasties to a baking tray and oven bake for a further 10 – 15 minutes until the pastry is golden.

Fish Lasagna

Ingredients

  • 500g Fish Pie Mix
  • 2 leeks, chopped
  • 2 tbsp butter/marg
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 1 pint milk
  • 2 tsp honey
  • Salt and pepper
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • A good couple of handfuls of cheddar or other cheese
  • A packet of lasagne sheets

Method

  • Marinate the fish in lemon juice and pepper
  • Melt the butter in a large saucepan and add the leeks, cooking for about 5 mins over medium heat.
  • Add flour and mix well, then add the milk slowly and when it is all in bring to boil, then reduce heat so it is simmering for 5 mins or so.
  • Add honey and salt and pepper and cheese and mix in thoroughly.
  • Then add the fish and allow to cook for 5-10 mins on low heat.
  • Then layer this mixture with the lasagne sheets in a large dish, cook at about 180 degrees for 30 mins.

 

Paella

Ingredients

  • 500g Fish Pie Mix
  • Onion Chopped
  • Chorizo
  • Handful of mussels
  • Garlic clove crushed
  • Rice
  • Chicken stock
  • Peas
  • 1 tsp Turmeric
  • 1 tsp curry powder

Method

  • Fry off the garlic, chorizo and onions until the onions are soft, add the turmeric and curry powder and give it a good stir.
  • Next add the rice and chicken stock, give it a good stir and simmer until the rice is cooked
  • Finally add the fish pie mix and mussels and cook until the fish turn opaque and the mussels open, season well and serve in warm bowls

Fish Pie

  • 400 – 500g Fish Pie Mix
  • 1 Potts’ Sauce for Fish Pie
  • 2 Large Potatoes
  • Cheese
  • Knob of Butter
  • Dash of Cream
  • Salt and Pepper

Method

  • Peel and Boil the Potatoes, Add the Butter and Cream and mash until smooth.
  • In a deep oven proof dish, place the Fish Pie Mix and and the Potts’ Sauce for Fish Pie and cook in a medium oven (180 degrees / Gas Mark 5) for  15 – 20 minutes.
  • once the fish is just cooked, top the mixture with the mash, sprinkle with cheese and return to the oven until the top is crispy and golden
  • It couldn’t be simpler, serve and enjoy!
